Colorado Telepsychiatry
The purpose of therapy is not to correct the past, but to enable the patient to confront his own history, and to grieve over it.

Meet Dr. Heath Canfield
I am a licensed physician, board certified in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology. I'm also a fully trained psychoanalyst. After medical school and psychiatric residency at the University of Colorado, I opted for over four additional years of training in intensive psychotherapy (psychoanalysis) beyond what most psychiatrists undertake. While I spend most of my time doing psychotherapy, I also prescribe medications when appropriate.
I have a particular interest in treating physicians of all specialties who struggle with work related burnout, depression, or other mental health issues.
Practice Areas
01
Psychiatric Evaluation
Designed to identify any underlying mental health problems so that a diagnosis and treatment plan can be established.
02
In its simplest form, this is a series of conversations designed to address the underlying cause(s) of a person's difficulties.
03
Adult Psychoanalysis
An intensive form of psychotherapy aimed at helping patients achieve a greater understanding of themselves and how they operate in relationships.
04
Psychopharmacology
Psychiatric medications can be helpful for depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental illnesses. Medications work best when combined with therapy.
05
Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP)
I sometimes use low-dose ketamine in conjunction with therapy as part of a holistic treatment plan.
06
Telepsychiatry
Conducting sessions online can be more convenient for patients and increase access to treatment for patients in underserved areas around Colorado.
